Amy Ouren—Media Specialist

Did Neil Armstrong land on the moon? Are the Kennedys really cursed? What is Area 51? These all have been the topics of some passionate conversations here at Click, and often, it’s all thanks to Amy, (yes we have two Amys/Aimees) our resident conversationalist and media specialist. Her ability to not leave any possibility unturned makes her a heck of a debater and is a great asset in her role.

Here’s more about our passionate initiator of riveting discussions and planner of all things media.

Tell us about yourself.

Well, I like to call myself a conversationalist, which sometimes does involve deep discussions about conspiracy theories. It’s so fun to see where everyone lands on each topic! I’m also a Bismarck native and former Demonette dance member who’s not shy to break out a pirouette when the mood strikes. My husband, Derek and I live in North Fargo with our three beautiful (and very busy) daughters ages, 5, 3 and 1 and our fourth human-like child, Buddy, our basset hound.

What do you do here at Click?

I develop strategic and effective media campaigns that align with our clients’ goals and budgets. I’m a planner and I love to organize events so this is right up my alley.

What are the most important things to keep in mind for a successful media campaign?

To ensure your campaign focuses on the one thing you want your audience to hear. Less is more. There’s no reason to muddy the waters here.

What are the biggest media mistakes businesses should watch out for?

Not mapping out key messages prior to placing media, omitting a high-level budget and not tracking ROI are three big pitfalls that will affect your campaign’s success and how much bang your buck will get. You always want to ensure you’re using your money in the right places, at the right times and for the right reasons.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love getting to work closely with our clients and learning everything I can about their businesses and the industries of which they are part. I essentially become an extension of their team and will even ask them where they are going to put my desk. Ha!

What’s the one thing clients are often surprised to learn when working with Click on media planning?

Many folks think that because we are a Forum Communications Company we only work with our own media outlets. Nope! We work with the media outlets that are right for our clients, regardless of publisher.

When you’re not strategizing media, what’s going on in Amy world?

Our family enjoys going to the library and playing at the park. We also look forward to Saturday mornings, which in our house, is the day we make pancakes. This used to be my thing until the kids discovered Derek makes them better. Now he makes pancakes and I get to sleep a little longer. I think that’s a win for me. 😊

Hobbies, talents or interesting facts about yourself?

Let’s be real. I have kids, so I have no hobbies. I do, however, like watching a weekly episode of “This Is Us” and “The Queen” on Netflix. That’s about as much “hobbying” I want to do right now in life.
